What are Saturated Fats?? Saturated Fats are typically fats that are derived from animal sources. An exception to this would be tropical oils such as coconut and palm oils. Saturated fats are usually solid at room temperature and the carbons contained in the fatty-acid chains are fully saturated with hydrogens (hence the name saturated fatty acids). A list of food sources would include meats, dairy products, pastries, cakes, fried foods, soups and casseroles containing creams as well as coconut oil and palm oil, and a variety of fast foods.
